Welcome, wanderer, to the Green Dragon Dojo - but beware of the ancient spirit that guards it!
This artwork is a result of my love for Japanese and asian architecture and my very fond memories of Jade Empire - one of my favourite RPGs.
This render took approx. 18 - 20 hours to render - please don't ask me why, the file size is ridiculous, but obviously my attempts to create a cool-looking spirit dragon and somewhat haunted, foreboding lighting almost killed my PC.
I know that there may be some details which are not quite right, but I simply cannot render it again, so this is the final piece - for now!
What really does it for me is that waterfall in the background. I'm not sure why, it just adds so much atmosphere to the entire render. I love how it's partially hidden by the shrine, because it shows just how much detail you put in, regardless of whether or not it's going to be seen fully.
Great piece, I like the water and the jungle-atmosphere. I agree with Imi-Kagami, the backround gives the whole scene a very mystical touch. Beautiful! The eyes of the dragon ghost somewhat disturb me. A little too big and round, but perhaps that's just me
Well, looking at this pic, the shadows, lights, atmosphere, AND the dragon I can sure see why it took so long to render. I dare say it was well worth the effort, my dear, it looks fabulous.
Just to humor you - my longest render was this one: [link] took almost 28 hours.
Holy Moly, woman, that is one seriously haunted looking dojo! No wonder it took that long-- it looks serene AND foreboding at the same time. And the dragon--well, creepy and majestic and terrifying and beautiful, too. Great work!

Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it. Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article.
In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.

18 to 20 hours...
I'm never again going to complain about my computer taking 2 hours to render something.
