Marisana of the House Damar, respectable Maga of the noble High Arcane Institute in Punin.
"Wait," some of you might say. "This is one of Kaana's original characters, and she has no red hair?!?"
... I really don't know how that happened, either!
This is the mage that I'm playing in my local Pen-and-Paper RPG group. The game is called "The Dark Eye", which is a pretty popular medieval fantasy RPG setting here in Germany. She's actually more of a stay-at-home (or rather stay-at-the-library ) kind of gal and is actually pretty good when it comes to brewing potions, analysing magical artifacts, arcane knowledge in general or ancient languages... and pretty much useless out in the wilderness, or a fight.
I have a lot of fun playing her, so it was about time that she got a proper portrait. You're seeing that right, she has a red ruby where her right eye should be. Marisana was "blessed" with that ruby after witnessing a dark ritual that she tried to stop with her companions. A few days later, the ruby (which had been used by the evil wizard during the ritual) materialised inside her head. It's not only a powerful magical artefact, but literally has a mind of its own, and so Marisana now has to constantly battle the ruby's influence... we'll see where that goes!
I tried to create a more minimalistic portrait here and therefore reduced the colour scheme to black, red and white, with only a hint of green in her eye and her jewellery. I love the final result, even if she looks a bit like the evil Queen from Snowwhite right now - but since she's not exactly a people person and can seem rather harsh and arrogant when you first meet her, I guess it's okay.

Whew! I'm glad you said the red eye was a ruby; for a moment I thought it was caused by too much drinking at the local ale house with some low class dwarves, (or as an elf might say, "Are there any other kind?"). She has the kind of expression you might see if you were sitting across the table from her and outraged at the ridiculously high prices she charging for a potion containing powered bat fangs, werewolf blood and other esoteric ingredients. She answers your outrage with, "Well, sir, you don't have to buy it. If you wish to enter the tomb of Slarsh Dagoth without it, allow me to salute your courage. I'll pass on your wisdom," laughs softly. I'd dig into my change purse and pay the 15 gold ducats!
It's been too long, a couple of years, Miss Moonshadow since I visited your wonderful page. Delighted you are now a professional artist. If quality of work is a guarantee of success; you should be most successful indeed. Delighted you are enjoying Skyrim. My brother has been playing it for 6 months with 5 different characters. His latest is a female elf mage. Every time I look over his shoulder all I see is snow and some of the nastiest terrain imaginable - also lots of nasty dragons. Take care and best of luck.
