Microsoft Employees Disrupt Wii U Best Buy EventsRemember how Nintendo was showcasing some of their E3 games at participating Best Buy stores around the country? Well, apparently Microsoft employees have been hired to go to these events and preach about the Xbox One and make comments like "why would you buy a outdated Wii U when the Xbox One is right around the corner?"
However, the employees aren't getting what they hoped for. Most customers just start bashing the Xbox One in response. Seriously, Microsoft, the people attending these Best Buy Wii U events are people who are intimately familiar with the crap you pulled at E3. They ain't takin' your shit.
At first I thought this might just be a case of one really loyal Microsoft employee taking matters into his own hands (especially since the original source was /v/), but reports have come in from numerous Best Buy's around the country that indicate many Microsoft employees have ambushed the demo lines trying to persuade people to switch to the Xbox One.

Please Pants Responsibly (Paper Notebooks FTW)

There are two ways to write a novel.  Plotting (you make an outline, a plan, a roadmap if you will, and then you sit down and write it) and pantsing (you write "by the seat of your pants, throwing caution to the wind).  So when I get asked if I'm a plotter or a pantser, I'm all like er, uh, hold on, let me?  Pantser?  I think?  But I kind of, um, do planny things?
And it gets kind of awkward because in these inarticulate moments I have managed to confuse everyone including myself. And probably spilled a drink.
In recent discussions, however, I've had a bit of a revelation, silly as it is. I've realized that I -- like many writers -- am a plotter/pantser hybrid.  And perhaps what I'm doing is something we could call Pantsing Responsibly.  And, maybe, just maybe, I could share some of my responsible pantsing tips with other writers. Starting with paper notebooks.

The Used Game ParadigmOver the course of this past generation I've been watching the video game market react to the way it's been forced to deal with increasing changes. I've come out against used game sales and even written a journal about boycotting GameStop because (like most people at the time) I believed they were the root cause of all the problems the video game industry has. But that's something I don't believe now as intently as i did then. From where I sit, piracy and used games sales are a problem, but not in the way game companies want us to believe that they are.
Used games are a good thing for consumers. We get to try games out, and if we don't like what we see or finish it early, we trade it in and try another title instead. It's a very good system for us since video game rentals are much harder to come by. :bulletpurple: TIME FLIES WHEN YOU'RE HAVING ZBRUSH :bulletpurple:

The first month of my new career has passed, and it was fun!

It took a little while to get used to my new daily schedule, but I finally managed to find a good balance between work and free time and to enjoy my new freedom – cooking a nice, decent meal for lunch, for example, and then watching an episode of one of my favourite series while eating! :D

I found a great place with high quality online tutorials for Zbrush [link] and I am doing my best to work myself through the rookie tutorial section right now, truly relieved to see how fast you actually start to feel comfortable using the different sculpting brushes.

They also have great anatomy tutorials there, so I've learned lots of new stuff about the different muscles and bones of the face. Still a very long way to go, of course, but I feel like I'll get there eventually! ;)

Unfortunately, it seems like my trustworthy Bamboo tablet and pen don't have the sensitivity I need to work the brushes in Zbrush correctly, so I decided to upgrade my tablet to an Intuos 4… and it's like the difference between night and day! :wow:

The new pen is so pressure sensitive it's a delight, and you have lots of buttons to personalize and speeding up the Zbrush workflow. I'm working on my first human head right now, and as soon as I've a bit more to show I'll post some images here!


:bulletpurple: MASS EFFECT 3 AND OTHER FUN STUFF :bulletpurple:

I'm totally excited that Mass Effect 3 is less than a month away, with the demo just waiting beyond the horizon! :dummy:

I started another ME playthrough a little while ago and am currently making my way through ME2, hoping to finish that playthrough just in time to directly import it into ME3 to play it all in one epic roll. There's still a lot of missions to finish and team members to recruit, though, so I'll have to see how it goes… :fingerscrossed:

For all of you who also cannot wait to safe the galaxy from the Reapers, here's a fun link to enjoy:

What are tablets anyway? i see "tools of trade: something-something tablet" and have no clue what they are.. im such an art newbie.. >.>

"The tablet" is usually a reference for an electronic drawing tablet: [link] You can connect it to your PC and use the digital pen to paint e.g. directly in Photoshop as if you were working with a real pen or brush - it's incredibly practical! ;)

As for Zbrush - I still need my wrists for modeling, so I probably shouldn't get too optimistic! :laughing: But Zbrush now has a great new hair fibermesh feature, so maybe it can help me with things like Bishop's stubble. *That* could really save me a lot of work! :w00t:
